Most people aren’t surprised when they hear that Newburyport is one of the most walkable cities on the North Shore. We typed in the address of The Condominiums at The Kelley School into walkscore.com, and received a terrific walk score of 85 out of 100. The city of Newburyport is chock-full of charming neighborhoods, trendy restaurants and loads of recreational activities. The convenience factor, classic architecture, parks and highly ranked schools make The Condominiums at The Kelley School a great place to live with or without having to own a car. (However, the underground garage space makes it convenient if you do!)
Walk Score helps you find a walkable place to live, measuring the walkability of locations throughout the world. The more amenities (restaurants, movie theaters, schools) you have around you, and the closer they are, the higher your grade. Walk Score analyzes hundreds of walking routes to nearby amenities to determine a neighborhood’s Walk Score, which is a number between 0 and 100. Walk Score also measures pedestrian friendliness by analyzing population density and road metrics such as block length and intersection density.
Picture yourself living the Newburyport lifestyle, walking to a yoga or art class in the morning and meeting up with friends at the local coffee shop downtown. Need a book? The public library is a stone's throw away. Need a prescription filled? Two local pharmacies are within a 5 minute walk. Need a break from it all? Go for a walk around the picturesque Bartlet Mall, located right outside your front door or breathe in the fresh ocean air after a short walk down to the boardwalk on the Merrimack River. If you feel like traveling into Boston or Logan Airport, the MBTA Commuter Rail is an easy 10-15 minute walk down the beautiful Clipper City Rail Trail & Harborwalk (see trail map below).
